Helen Muscat - Cofounder & ABCF Chairperson
"I want to know what causes breast cancer, I want to see prevention rather than cure."
Helen Muscat’s career in healthcare spans over 40 years. Having qualified as a state registered nurse (SRN), she worked in surgery and even obtained the post of Ward Sister at the Kingston General Hospital (Hull) in the United Kingdom. Upon moving to Malta she cofounded the Hospice Movement; through which she set up the Breast Care Support Group. She was also Matron at two private hospitals and served on several committees including: Monitoring for Breast Screening and National Advisory Committee Breast Screening.
In addition to her activism, Helen is a mother of two, and contributes to the educational sector through her lectures in the Gerontology department at the University of Malta; induction seminars for nurses and volunteers at several hospitals and the Hilda Schembri Memorial Lectures until 2003.
